Lisbon Sports Club
Situated very close to Lisbon and blending harmoniously into a romantic landscape, this is a course that demands both skill and imagination, because of a watercourse that affects the nature of the game played over more than twelve of the holes. The Carregueira course at Belas is a par 69 with a total length of 5,278 metres, crossed by a brook – as a matter of fact it is the river Jamor – that decisively influences the way the l2th hole is played. Carregueira is not a long course but it demands knowledge of all the pitfalls that the brook conceals. That is why the positioning of strokes, and sometimes approach shots are of utmost importance. And it is a tricky course, where even good players seldom achieve good scores.

Belas Club de Campo
Belas Country Club, an 18 hole course, was planned with great international and national tournaments in mind. The architect responsible was William (Rocky) Roquemore, and his particular mark is evident in the fairly small bunkers which are strategically placed along the fairways up to the greens. With its excellent variety of holes, the course is a pleasure to play, whatever one’s handicap level. It demands both skill and tactical play and is acknowleged both locally and internationally as one of Portugal’s best constructed layouts. Many outstanding holes can easily be remembered even after playing the course only once.

For most of the course, however, the fairways face inland with the beautiful outline of the Sintra mountain range forming their background. Penha Longa – Atlântico
Penha Longa – Atlântico is a fabulous eighteen-hole course situated in Sintra, only twenty minutes from Lisbon. It forms part of the Protected Landscape Area of Sintra and Cascais. Robert Trent Jones II, the architect of the course, designed it to best take account of the steeply sloping terrain and excellent views of the surrounding landscape, across the mountains to the sea beyond. This means that the first three holes and the final three are laid out in a valley wooded with pines and studded with granite outcrops. Its championship characteristics, as well as its excellent level of maintenance, contributed to its being considered one of the best golf courses from the European Circuit.

Yet it is a course that requires high handicaps and challenges players with its fast greens and narrow fairways. Lakes give Mosteiro a special beauty, especially near holes 4, 5 and 8 where the romantic Sintra mountain range also accompanies the player.
