Day 1 – Arrival at Lisbon airport. Group met and assisted by our guide. Proceed to Évora, important town considered in its whole as World Patrimony. Afterwards the tour will continue to Estremoz, the very centre of the prolific marble-quarry region of the Alentejo. Dinner and overnight at Pousada Flor da Rosa in Crato.

Day 2 – Today you will start your tour by visiting Portalegre and Marvão. Located on an escarpment only a few miles from Spain, this tranquil town is completely surrounded by walls dating from 13th to 17thC. Next stop will be the small town Castelo de Vide with its medieval synagogue and the Gothic quarter. Than we will continue towards Castelo Branco and those who visit it may observe two distinct areas: the ancient medieval town, with its steep and narrow streets and a great modern zone. Dinner and overnight at Convento de Belmonte .

Day 3 – Further north you will arrive at Guarda where you we will spend some time visiting this town. Your journey will continue to Viseu, where you can visit the historical centre and the Grão Vasco museum. The town of Lamego is certainly attractive but its most striking monument is the church and shrine of Nossa Senhora da Agonia which sits high up on the hillside above the wide central avenue in the town and approached via 700 or so steps zigzagging up the hill. Dinner and overnight at Solar da Rede in Mesão Frio.

Day 4 – Leave Mesão Frio driving north to Guimarães and passing by Vila Real and Amarante. With its historical centre declared recently a World Heritage Site by UNESCO: visit Guimarães, birthplace of our first king, Afonso Henriques, and also considered as cradle of Portugal. Dinner and overnight at Santa Marinha in Guimarães.

Day 5 – Today we will start our tour by visiting the important sights of Porto. Your visit should feature the Cathedral, St Francis Church, Stock Exchange Palace, Av. Aliados and then across the river to Vila Nova de Gaia, a visit with wine tasting to a Port wine cellar. Free time for lunch. Afterwards you will continue to Coimbra. Rich in its history and with one of the oldest university in the world. Hereby visit to University chapel and its baroque library. In its city centre you’ll wander among old Roman ruins, Romanesque cathedrals and Manueline churches at the same time you stroll across its commercial busy area. Dinner and overnight at Pousada Sta Cristina in Condeixa-a-Nova.

Day 6 – Driving southbound you can visit Óbidos, a beautiful medieval little town, dated from the XII Century, you will continue your journey to Lisbon. Day at leisure dedicate to discover the city of Lisbon. In the evening dinner at restaurant where you will listen Fado music and Folklore. Dinner and overnight in a Lisbon hotel.

Day 7 – After breakfast departure for a full day visit to Lisbon surroundings: Estoril, Cascais and Sintra. The village of Sintra is considered world patrimony and one of the most beautiful Portuguese villages, not only for historical background, but also for its natural beauty and set up. Visit to Sintra Palace (closed on Wednesday). We will proceed to Cape Roca, Westernmost point of continental Europe and then via Guincho beach. The tour will continue to the cosmopolitan Cascais and Estoril, the famous resorts of the Portuguese Riviera, then back to Lisbon. In the afternoon departure to the airport where you will take your plane back home.
