Diplomata Tours was established in 1981 by Armando Fernandes and Elisabete Fernandes, in the same place where it still operates today, counting more than 25 years of experience in the Portuguese market.
Diplomata Tours was established with the main objective of creating a travel agency / tour operator with a simple and dynamic structure, that, supported by the best IT throughout the times, was able to meet the demands of the growing market.
Armando Fernandes had a large experience in the travel sector, as a founder of several other Portuguese travel agencies and tour operators, like Top Tours, Mapa Mundo, Algarve Marina, and others. He also organized the first charter flights from Portugal to the U.S.A and the first snow charters to Switzerland and Austria in 1971. He was also involved in Cityrama’s city-tours and Mundial Turismo’s express coach services to several cities in Portugal.
In the past years Diplomata Tours has made a significant effort in IT, as a mean of providing the best working tools to its staff. In the company view, this is the only way to satisfy and inform the demanding client of today.
In the last years we have organized several group and individual tours to Poland, U.S.A (Miami, Orlando and Disney World; Las Vegas, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Grand Canyon; New York), Thailand, Malaysia, Central Europe…, incentive trips and incoming groups. We also have short-break programs to the main world cities, like London, Paris, New York, Berlin… thalassotherapy and spa programs, honeymoon destinations, Algarve, Azores, Madeira, etc…
We also organized several large events in Portugal, like the 2008 OWASP Portugal and Forum de Segurança Digital (Digital Secutiry Forum), Eurofinas Europe 2005, among others.
The company has grown steadily over the last years based on a rigorous resource management and on the strong links created with clients and suppliers that have allowed us to provide the best services for the tourism market all around the world.
Our commercial staff has four elements, Maria José Madeira, Maria João Galrito and Márcia Ferreira. The Management and IT team is composed by Armando Fernandes, Elisabete Fernandes and Nuno Fernandes.
